In 1994
Romania chose a few children artists and their acclaimed teacher to be a
cultural component of the World Cup soccer play in Los Angeles. The
children, winners of many international art medals and honors, became the
catalyst for this international educational program. Each summer, Professor
Stoica and her students have traveled to the U.S. to share their painting
techniques with American children. The children visited Santa Fe and painted
at the Museum of International Folk Art in the summer of 1998, and in 1999
and 2000 the children painted at the Woodruff Art Center in Atlanta. The
following two summers they painted and taught at St. Matthew's Episcopal
Parish Center in Pacific Palisades California. In 2003 and 2004 the
Romanian Children Artists were hosted at Bethany Church in the Portsmouth,
New Hampshire area. In the summers of 2005 and 2006 the program was hosted
by the
Northminster
Presbyterian Church in Evanston, IL. They have been
enthusiastically received each place they have visited. Classes for 2007
included Atlanta and were an unqualified success. The program was featured
on July 13 on the
11 Alive News Wes Side Report by Wes Sarginson, and Wes purchased four
paintings! He has promised to feature a follow up report when the artists
return in 2008.
Classes are again scheduled for Atlanta from June 30th to July 11th
2008. Currently two separate class sessions are planned: Session I from
9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and Session II from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Tuition
includes lessons, supplies, fruit breaks & lunches.

The classes
offer space for twenty-four children, ages 8 to adult, to create their own
unique paintings using some of the techniques they learn from the Romanian
students. To reserve a place for Summer Art Camp 2008, please complete am
