Chaplaincy and Campus Ministry

Fr. Paul Moreau, LC- Head Chaplain

Father Moreau is the youngest of eleven children. He was born and lived 17 years in Victoria, BC Canada. After studying four years at Thomas Aquinas College in California, he worked three years as a recruiter for the college. In 1993, he entered the seminary of the Legion of Christ in Cheshire, Connecticut and was ordained a priest December 24, 2002 in Rome. Father Moreau was transferred to Atlanta in 2003 from an assignment in Washington DC.

Fr. Peter Devereux, LC - Assistant Chaplain
Father Peter was born and raised in New Zealand. He has two years’ Novitiate training in Orange, Connecticut. He then went to Salamanca, Spain for a year to study humanities. He has had five years of philosophy and theology in Rome, Italy and Gdansk, Poland. Father Peter was ordained on the 1st of January 2000 in Rome, Italy along with 26 other Legionaries. Father has served the Atlanta area for three years as chaplain and retreat director. Father Peter is from a family of seven boys (3 are seminarians with the Legion of Christ) and his parents still live in Dunedin, New Zealand.

Ms. Meg Hunter-Kilmer - Upper School Office of Campus Ministry
Ms. Hunter-Kilmer is originally from Northern Virginia, just outside Washington, DC. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theology with a minor in Italian and a Master’s in Theological Studies, both from the University of Notre Dame. She is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where she sings in the choir. Ms. Hunter-Kilmer is very excited to be spreading the love of Christ through teaching religion and working in campus ministry.

Mrs. Linda Verlander- Upper School Office of Campus Ministry
Mrs. Verlander holds a B.A. in Literature from the Thomas More College of Liberal Arts, Merrimack, New Hampshire, and an M.A. in English from The University of Dallas, Irving, Texas. Prior to joining the Religious Education and Theology Department in 2006, Mrs. Verlander taught 7th, 9th, 11th & 12th grade English at Holy Spirit Prep. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Verlander serves as the faculty sponsor for the Yearbook committee. She and her husband, Michael, are parishioners at Holy Spirit Church.

Ms. Jill Preisack- Lower School Director of Campus Ministry
Ms. Preisack was born in St. Louis, and lived in Missouri most of her life. She received her Bachelor of Science at Northeast Missouri State University. While working in a successful career in management and business, she discovered her calling to the consecrated life in Regnum Christi. Since then, she has completed a Master’s degree from the John Paul II Institute on Marriage and the Family in Rome. She is currently working on two other degrees: Education and Religious Studies. Over the past 15 years, Ms. Preisack has worked extensively with women and girls, directing retreats, camps, missions, leadership programs and outreach activities. She has been with our school since 2002 working in campus ministry: overseeing the K4J (Kids "4" Jesus) virtue program, outreach projects, preparation for the sacraments, directing retreats for the students and for mothers, and giving spiritual direction and Catholic formation to mothers, teachers and students.

Mrs. Jerilyn Messer- 5th Grade Religion Teacher, Lower School Assistant Campus Minister
Mrs. Messer received her BA with honors from Franciscan University of Steubenville, OH in Catechetics and Theology. She will soon complete her MA in Theology and Christian Ministry through the university's distance learning program. Mrs. Messer was raised in Woodstock, Georgia and is delighted to be back in the South. She is excited to be a part of the staff of Holy Spirit Preparatory School for her second year as assistant campus minister and for her first year teaching 5th grade religion. Mrs. Messer resides in Mableton with her husband, Justin, who is the youth minister at St. James the Apostle in McDonough. She and her husband are both dedicated to serving the Church through ministry to youth and to children.
