Aquinas Professor of Classical Studies; Classics Department Chair; Latin and Greek

Dr. Richard L.S. Evans holds a B.A. in Latin, Greek & Ancient History from the University of South Carolina; he was a regular member of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens in 1973-74, , earned an M.A. in Classical Greek and an M.Phil. in Classics from Columbia University in the City of New York, and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature with an emphasis in Classics and early English from the University of

South Carolina. Dr. Evans brings over 30 years teaching experience in a variety of university and school environments; 22 publications and a wide array of academic presentations, supporting his professional background. Dr. Evans has a particular interest in the promotion and teaching of Classical Greek in Catholic education.

Dr. Evans currently serves the cause of Catholic education and Classical learning as Chair of the Department of Classics at Holy Spirit Preparatory School as well as Adjunct Professor of Classics at Southern Catholic College. He is professionally active at both in the national and international arena of Classical Studies.
