Office of Religious Education

In 2008, the Office of Religious Education will offer eighteen classes that can be applied toward Advanced Catechist certification.  Classes start January 19th.

Advanced Catechist Training 2008

Advanced Catechist Training (ACT) classes are for those catechists who have already completed Basic Catechist Certification (BCC) or its equivalent.  They are also appropriate for any adult who already has basic knowledge of the Catholic Faith and wants to learn more.

Participants may choose to come to one or come to all, as their schedule and interest allows.

The classes cover four main topic areas: faith/creed, sacraments/liturgy, Catholic morality, and the documents of Vatican II.  Each of the eighteen classes is three hours long -- leaving time to go more in depth than basic classes, while remaining less demanding than a college course.

In 2008, the classes will be held two Saturdays a month for nine months; we will break for the three summer months (June, July, and August).  Classes will be held at Holy Spirit Preparatory School on the Upper Campus, which is located on the grounds of Holy Spirit Catholic Church at the intersection of Northside Dr. and Mt. Paran
