The Spring Gala
Saturday, April 11
The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead
The annual Spring Gala is a wonderful evening of fun, fellowship, and fundraising each year. All of the proceeds from the Gala support our teachers in two ways: proceeds are equally divided between the Teachers' Continuing Education Fund (TCEF) and the Teachers' Children Tuition Assistance Fund (TCTAF). We believe that the best faculty is a faculty given the opportunity to grow in their professional capacity; the TCEF allows our faculty and staff to continue as students themselves and grow each year professionally. The TCTAF provides additional tuition assistance for the children of our teachers. We are incredibly proud of the teachers we have invited to be a part of the HSP community, and we want to ensure that they and their families stay a part of the HSP community. A crucial part of that support can be reducing the burden of tuition on their families.
Upper School students will be offering at-home babysitting services during the Spring Gala to earn school service hours. To reserve your sitter, please contact Kaitlyn Curtin at email@example.com.
Thank you to the sponsors whose generosity ensures the success of our Gala!

This past Saturday, March 28, varsity girls soccer hosted their 3rd annual Pink Soccer game, supporting St. Joseph Mercy Care. The varsity girls played Monsignor Donovan, finishing over the Athens team 4-1. The girls presented a check to Scott Tucker of Mercy Care between games, and the boys finished up the day shutting out Monsignor Donovan's boys 3-0.
The win against the Rams caps a week of wins for varsity soccer: the girls also won over Atlanta Girls School 1-0, Weber 6-1, and Dominion Christian 5-2. The boys suffered one defeat to new competitor the Fugees Family School 3-1, but beat Weber 2-0 and Dominion Christian 5-1.
An ace performance by Claude O'Meara lifted Holy Spirit Preparatory School Cougars to an 8-1 win in seven innings over Whitefield on Friday, March 27, at HSP.
O'Meara handled Whitefield's lineup with ease, racking up 12 strikeouts. O'Meara allowed no earned runs, one hit and no walks over seven innings.
The Cougars' bats came to life in the fourth inning. Whitefield had no answer as HSP scored five runs. The Cougars scored in the fourth on an RBI single by James English, a fielder's choice, an RBI double by O'Meara, and an RBI single by Ben McCarty.
The lead stayed with the Cougars after the first, when it scored two runs on an infield hit by Nick Maddox and an RBI triple by Vinny Antinori.
HSP vs. Johnson Ferry Christian
HSP Cougar baseball and Johnson Ferry Christian lit up the scoreboard on Saturday, March 28, as they combined for 19 runs. In the end, the Cougars won the offensive battle 11-8 in six innings.
There were 28 hits, including eight extra base hits in the game.
James English went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Cougars. He singled in the third, fourth, and sixth innings.
HSP never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on a groundout by Vinny Antinori and an RBI triple by Thomas Markwalter.
The Cougars got one-run rallies in the second inning and the sixth. In the second, HSP scored on an RBI double by Claude O'Meara, plating Christian DeSchepper.
HSP piled on three more runs in the bottom of the third. An error by Johnson Ferry scored Patrick Markwalter to break open the inning.
After pushing across one run in the top of the fourth, Johnson Ferry Christian faced just a 6-1 deficit. An error set off Johnson Ferry Christian’ rally.
HSP quickly answered with four runs of its own in the fourth. The Cougars scored on an RBI single by English, a two-run double by Coleman DeSchepper, and an RBI single by Jackson King.
Five runs in the top of the fifth helped Johnson Ferry Christian close its deficit to 10-6. The Johnson Ferry Christian threat came to an end when Patrick Markwalter finally got Mcallister to fly out.
Two Johnson Ferry Christian runs crossed the plate in the top half of the sixth, making the score 10-8. But it was not enough as James English closed out the game by getting Johnson Ferry’s Heacock to fly out.
The HSP Middle School Cougars now go to 5-3 on the season. The Cougars get a well-deserved week off before finishing the season with two home games at the HSP Upper School against Woodward on Tuesday, April 7, and Galloway on Friday, April 10.
