Holy Spirit Prep is excited to announce our all-new spirit wear shop!
Visit www.hspgear.com to find your favorite apparel with HSP logos and fan items.
PE uniforms for students in grades K-8 are also available for sale in the spirit wear shop. Uniforms ordered in the first two weeks of school will not arrive in time for your student's first PE classes! In the interim, on days that students have PE, they may wear last year's PE uniform or appropriate gym attire. Families can visit the school store at the Lower School to borrow or purchase gently-used PE uniforms.
For 2015-16, students may wear the new PE uniform offered at HSPGear.com or last year's approved PE uniform.
This school year, HSP will distribute a printed edition of the school directory to each family. The school directory contains contact information for each family, as well as helpful information about student homerooms and houses. The directory is expected to be available in early September.
An online version of the directory will be available sooner, and will be announced in the Green and Gold when it is available on the school's website.

The loud roar rocking the HSP gym this past Tuesday night was the predatorial sound of the varsity volleyball team and their fans. The Lady Cougars' first competition of the season was a scrimmage against the very experienced varsity team from Cornerstone Prep Academy. With no seniors and only two juniors, still impressively stood their ground, narrowly losing set #2, but gaining confidence and winning sets #3 and #4, forcing the match to a deciding 5th set.
Fan support was fantastic, with the cheerleaders and football team leading the excitement in the stands. Our volleyball team appreciates everyone’s support! The next home match is Thursday, August 27 at 5:00pm, when the Lady Cougars will be on the prowl for a win against Mt. Bethel Christian. Come cheer them to victory!

“It is important to realize that being close to Jesus and knowing him in the Eucharist through your service at the altar, enables you to open yourselves to others, to journey together, to set demanding goals and to find the strength to achieve them.”
-Pope Francis to Altar Servers, August 4, 2015
Those students who are in grades 3-6 are invited to volunteer for the privilege of altar serving at their class Masses throughout the year. It is a great way for them to serve and grow closer to God through their living of the Mass.
The only requirement to be an altar server is to have made your First Communion in the Catholic Church.
If a student has been trained before, or has served at the altar at their own parish, they still need to attend training at the beginning of the year. Serving a class Mass can be a little different than at a parish, so this helps to get them acquainted with the nuances of a Mass at school. The 6th graders who have served previously will be asked to help guide the younger students through their trainings.
Trainings will be held in the Lower School Chapel during tutorials in the afternoon from 3-4 pm, from Tuesday–Thursday, starting on August 18 and running through September 3rd. Tuesday, August 18th, is reserved specifically for 3rd graders who will be receiving initial training. If this date doesn’t work for your 3rd grader, you can sign them up for another date. 5th and 6th graders will also have the chance in school during their cluster periods to have training, but can also sign up for the afternoon tutorial times.
Please email Ms. Eckert, Lower School Campus Minister, at email@example.com to sign up your child as an altar server.
Tuesday, August 25, from 6:00pm-7:00pm in the Lower School Media Center, there will be a Parent Night for all 2nd grade parents about the sacraments students will receive this year. There will be information for parents about the preparation given in the classroom for First Penance and First Communion. Please contact Ms. Eckert at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.

This annual event, required for 9th-12th graders and open to the whole HSP community, marks the entry of our 9th grade students into high school, and features Mass in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, followed by 9th graders and new HSP high school students signing the Matricula, a book which they will sign again on the day they graduate, marking their admission to and graduation from high school at Holy Spirit Prep. Dress uniform is required.
